Police Raids and Checks Result in 10 Arrests

The Cyprus Police conducted extensive patrols and checks across the island during the past night, aiming to prevent criminal activities, ensure public order, and enhance citizens' sense of security. These checks focused on key areas of urban regions and included vehicle, person, and premises inspections. In total, 650 vehicles were stopped and 849 individuals were checked during the operations. Simultaneously, 40 premises were inspected, resulting in 11 violations being recorded. These checks aimed to address various forms of crime. The checks led to 10 arrests for various offenses, including theft, illegal possession of drugs, and traffic violations. Specifically, 282 traffic violations were recorded, of which 160 concerned speeding and 27 driving under the influence of alcohol. Additionally, 19 tests were conducted for driving under the influence of drugs, with 9 drivers testing positive. As part of the checks, 15 vehicles were also impounded. The Police announced that targeted checks and increased police presence will continue daily, with the aim of protecting citizens and ensuring public order. These operations are part of a broader effort to combat crime and enhance security in Cyprus.
