AKEL Proposal for Changing the Election of the President of the Parliament

AKEL has submitted a proposal to the Parliament to change the way the President of the Parliament is elected, proposing a simple majority and, in case of not reaching 50%+1 in the first round, a second round between the two leading candidates. AKEL General Secretary Stefanos Stefanou stated that the proposal appears to have the consensus of the majority of parties, as there is general agreement on the need to rationalize and simplify the process.
